The Common Fall Conference is the small conference that packs a powerful punch with awesome people, great sessions and, for this year, another fantastic location.
With over 200 attendees, a sold out expo, 29 college students, and the fantastic Common Team this years Fall Conference and Exposition was a wonderful opportunity to once again re-connect with current (don't dare say old) friends and to make some new ones. There was definitely a large number of new faces which is always great to see and the energy for the platform is strong.
Thank you to all that stopped by our table in the Exposition Hall. Although it was quite entertaining watching people attempt to fit their meal on the rather small and inadequate sized plates provided by the hotel, it was far more enjoyable getting to know some of you both personally and some of the business challenges you are faced with. The greater interest in modernization and .NET Development trend we noticed in the large annual spring conference continued just as strongly in this conference. It appears .NET is being fully embraced by many in the IBM i space now. As with the Spring conference, the their were a number of attendees actively seeking out .NET solutions and many others that were openly curious about it. We were more than happy, of course, to demonstrate the great unity between .NET and the IBM i that is possible and how it can be used as a great modernization technology. Have a look at the Slide presentation that was looping in the background and give us a call at (239) 405-8427 or drop us a note for us to show you the demos.
The Educational Sessions presented by the most respected, skilled and knowledgeable presenters in the IBM i space are always the mainstay of the conference. And this years selection of over 130 was excellent. With the growing interest in .NET with the IBM i, I am hoping we will see some educational sessions around that technology. We have a few we can offer. Please let Common staff know if this is something you would like.
Surround provided 2 more high-level non-technical sessions of our own at this years conference. A special thanks to the attendees that made it out to the last session of the conference 11:00 AM Wednesday Morning, especially with the beautiful sunshine outside. In case you were not able to catch our sessions, have a look at The Top 7 Pillars for Accelerating Mobile, Web and Windows Software Development Slide Deck and Accelerating Software Modernization and Development with Surround Technologies and please drop us a note or give us a call, (239) 405-8427, if you want more information.
I hope you all got to also enjoy some down time as this was a beautiful location to enjoy Florida sunshine and beaches. There was some rain, as is to be expected this time of year in Florida, but overall, the weather was great.
If you would like to check out some more news and photos of the event, got to the Common User Group Facebook page.
We look forward to seeing many of you again and many more new faces at the Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
